Man who ran from Runnels County Sheriff's Office captured

RUNNELS COUNTY, Texas — Runnels County residents can breathe easier this Wednesday morning after a man fleeing from the Runnels County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) was apprehended.

The Ballinger Police Department (BPD) sent a Nixle alert Tuesday evening to inform residents to be vigilant, as the man was believed to be heading toward San Angelo.

“The wanted subject running loose in Ballinger has been captured,” the RCSO announced on social media around midnight.

The alert from the BPD was issued at 3:48 p.m. Tuesday, stating, “Wanted Subject on the run currently in Ballinger. Call 911 if you see him.”

Both departments later updated that the man was last seen near the intersection of 12th and Sealy streets.

The BPD clarified that the case was under the jurisdiction of Runnels County and that the alert was issued to assist in the man’s capture.

RCSO noted, “The BOLO put out by the Ballinger PD is for this man. He is wanted on parole warrants for fleeing and escape. Seems like a career for this guy.”

As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, the man had not yet been booked into the Runnels County Jail and was not listed on the jail roster.

We will provide updates as more information becomes available.
